I just want to say that I am still digging the art, am curious about the story, and really, really love the colour palette in this “new” direction 🙂
eish, there has to be one! I don’t like the new colors:( I’m trying to, but it’s just too bright for twilight. just the word “twilight” does it for me! It refers to ‘unclarity’, an obscure mixture of day and night, a time of mysteriousness. the old artwork fit the theme and darkness.
I remember my grandmother always calling me inside at ‘sanjatanoo’ (english spelling of a poorly remembered Hindi word, or even 2 words!) because that’s the time of strange luck…I would be running barefoot around my ‘hood, climbing trees etc and she would go CRAZY if I was outside at dusk. was fine to be outside while the sun was up, or after the sun set, but dusk(twilight) was off-limits.
out of context (now I sound like our politicians) the art is awesome. Rona is indeed beautiful!
OK, I’ve had my negative say and will eat it up! I am clearly the minority, and this artwork does not detract too much from the great package that is The Twilight Lady.
xcal – you may not be in the minority, you might just be the only one who spoke up about disliking the colours 🙂 I don’t see them as incongruous with the theme – they’re dark enough where darkness lurks. The little guy’s colours are cool and muted, for instance; he’s dead and anxious. Rona’s astral dress is warm and striking because she’s alive and enjoying her time on that plane. Is how I see it anyway, the artists may have had a completely different intention! 🙂
I like the depth of the colors. It’s no longer 3D, but features still stand out. Especially Rona’s face in the last panel.
Freedom of speech allows xcal for be dissatisfied. Hopefully the story will keep you from running away from red dresses. Oh, and twilight was called the “gloaming hour” in my town, and it was a time of change between the world of the living and world of the dead, when spirits came out, magic worked best, and fairies played tricks. Maybe the same general concept as your grandmother?
I have to admit after a few days of looking over what you’ve done with this new art work, it is without a doubt some GREAT work. I have a wonder if you intend to redo ALL of your work that way at some point or no.
xcal: I do have to agree to an extent, and I maintain some doubts about the art. Mr. Chen’s style fit the atmosphere in a unique way that’s very hard to replicate.
I suppose we should give the new artists the benefit of the doubt, though, for exactly that reason. It’s not an easy job to do. 😉
@ophelia, I like your take on the colors! will open my eyes and mind to the color and mood.
Like most of us, I’m here for the mystery, magic and mind-boggling confusion 🙂 a different set of visuals does not change this. and I *do* like the new artwork 🙂 I also guess that it’s a bit too mainstream for me…I’m more of a fringe type…alt-pop vs pop 🙂

Indeed, goodbye 3D grayscale, hello toon color!
Had to say it, I love Rona’s outfit; its beautiful. I really want a scarf like that now….

Certainly no plans at the moment. I have too many NEW stories that I want to bring to visual life first…
