And of course WE are the puzzled ones now… xD
Still we have now an explanation as to why the malleans underestimate her so much : she vanished from even their fantasy legends…
“of course! I’ll confuse those who are watching completely with a totally random outburst, and then the Malleans shall somehow stab themselves to death when fighting against me, brilliant!”
I do wonder if, perhaps, The Lady engineered things so that all mentions of her name and deeds were erased from the legends and historical accounts of most cultures, including the Mallean. The Lady did free herself from the “deadly trap” of having a name. (Voicing someone’s name exerts a measure of influence on them. It grabs their attention, if nothing else.) Being an important historical figure would have it’s own issues.
I’m thinking that, perhaps, when she gave up being the leader of the Nemsiiki, she wanted to break herself off from the responsibility completely.
As for Jen’s body being all healed, perhaps the transition from Jen to The Lady facilitated that?
And I do hope Rona asks to be taught The Way soon. At least she’s asking about it again.
She had been banished and all evidence of her existence removed from their records and folklore? Why do I suspect she engineered those events?
Why do I expect she’s (and Jen) are now carrying an ‘extra’ burden? Don’t ask me how it happened, but I suspect a child has been conceived.
She said she’d been banished, she does not say by whom. Cryptic as always… 🙂
As for the pregnancy probability, now that you mention it, that could explain Jen’s earlier pain, but would be very puzzling since Jen’s been romantically solo for years, as far as we know. My guess is Jen is subcounsciously draining the Lady’s energies to recover herself. That would go well with her appearance resembling that of the Lady more and more over time…
Everyone’s forgetting ONE simple factor, Jen and Rona were drugged, it is entirely possible that the drug is still affecting her and dulling the pain 😛
the pain was one indication. note in the fifth panel where she puts her hand (as if to ‘scan and sense’ the area the prior injury had been.
then she reacts in surprise at the revelation of what the scan reveals, but not in horror.
Mebbe that alien monkey healed her?
If I’m right about the pregnancy, she has already won the battle. When they encounter once more, both sides will take time to LOOK at each other and figure out each other. It is then the manhunters will note the lady is with child.
The pact was made to protect innocents from harm. There is none more innocent than the unborn. The manhunters’ honor would not allow them to endanger the unborn child.
Take a look at page 33a – in the car, Meekah is laying hands on Jen’s wound. (http://www.twilightlady.com/2013/04/23/the-way-of-the-ghost-pg-33a/)
Then page 39. Meekah’s touching Rona’s abdomen – perhaps as if to see what healthy tissue looks like? (http://www.twilightlady.com/2013/05/21/the-way-of-the-ghost-pg-39/)
And on page 49 – who is saying “You’re welcome” — I think it’s Meekah, speaking to Jen / The Lady.
Just my 2 cents, anyway.
RQ, You make a very persuasive argument. I reckon we’ll find out soon.
