Lingen just lost his camouflage. Is he dead, or did the Lady spare him through Jen’s subtle influence ?
I don’t think Jen had any influence.
I think Lingen has suffered the absolute worst outcome for the loser in psionic battle… an empty mind.
Being termed “brain-dead” does not come close to the actual consequence of what has just happened.
Less a battle and more a game of pat-a-cake.
Actually it is a battle, Graham, and it is death, Valkeiper. Simply we witnessed it through outside their bodies, while everthing took place within their minds. If the Lady killed Lingen, he’s not an empty mind nor brain dead. He’s dead alright, exceptly spiritually instead of physically. In other words, he’s joining the Huntress and that antagonist kid from the Indwellers story arc. In which case his body is now an empty shell.
Still i’d like to believe she actually spared him under condition he’d leave Behryn and his people alone. That would be a critical character developpement for the Lady : learning to spare an ennemy…
The Lady has spared enemies before. See http://www.twilightlady.com/comic/symphony-in-the-key-of-oblivion-pg-21b/ .
Darth,
If his body is not breathing and his heart not pumping, he’s dead.
If his body is still operating and his brain is still physically unharmed (as I suspect), then his mind is empty.
If his brain has been damaged beyond… brain dead.
That is my reading of this page.
I’m pretty sure we can agree he lost the battle, though.
