Interesting! Very very interesting!
I have to say I hated the original Twilight Lady. That said however I really am enjoying this drawn style and pace. It’s so much easier to read and so much more interesting. Uncanny valley sucks – seriously.
Interesting. I wonder why the Lady finds the idea so upsetting. Is she afraid Jen will try to restrain herself while she’s sleeping or something? That would be amusing.
i do not hate the new artwork its just to me it doesn’t fit the story telling, if they could in fact make it like this in the real realm with the current artists and in the astral realm with Blake’s artwork the old way i would be all set enjoy it more..
as i said i dont hate it just doesn’t feel right there’s something to be said if you look at the earlier chapters from first page you would see that the story seem to loose some of the suspense by the artwork that was done..
and thats all i will say on this subject.
De gustibus… Something has lost a bit of impact, but I’m not sure whether that’s due to the change in art, or if this chapter just isn’t grabbing me as strongly, or (most likely) a bit of both.
Which reminds me, Blake: I remember mention of your using Poser for the character models. Did you ever tell us what the rest of your toolkit was, and/or give us a “making of” series of renders to show your approach to putting a scene together?
This artwork is ok, but I prefer the old style. The Lady is awesome either way, though!
“Did you ever tell us what the rest of your toolkit was,”
Photoshop.
“and/or give us a “making of” series of renders to show your approach to putting a scene together?”
No, but I guarantee you’ll be the first to know if it ever comes to pass!
Hm. Rereading this page: “I shall rather” seems awkward to me; I’d expect either “I would rather” or “I should rather”. But that may be regional variation in English. It should also be remembered that English is not the Lady’s first language, and the may be using phrases that are closer to her native tongue when she doesn’t specifically make an effort to tap her other self’s habits.
Hm. I wonder whether the Lady _does_ have access to enough of Jen’s memories/personality that she could convincingly play Jen, should the need ever arise. (Feel free to use that thought, if it fits in anywhere.)
The lady is fully aware of everything that Jen is aware of. Jen, however, is NOT aware of the lady, and that’s by design. (Hypnotherapy) The English language has changed quite a bit since the day The Lady first encountered orblight. She’s pretty much stuck with the Shakesperean, Ye Olden Lord’s English dialect. To properly impersonate Jen, she would have to spend an inordinate amount of mental effort re-learning the language. This is energy best spent elsewhere. She would rather feign unconsciousness.
