So he gets the sword and then changes his mind?? Sounds like he’s not quite as set on his vendetta as he thinks he is!
… or not as eager to risk tackling it himself as he claimed.
Either way, we already know that the Lady is good at seeing into the hearts of others. I’m not really surprised by her springing what amounts to a trust exercise on the kid.
Side comment: Seeing Jen’s face where I expect to see the Lady’s is causing an odd cognative dissonance. Most importantly, I can’t tell whether the fact that her compassion is more visible than I would have expected is intended (character development, letting down her guard a bit with the youngster), an artifact of seeing Jen’s countenance expressing these opinions, the result of hand-drawn art allowing more subtle rendering of expressions that were always intended, or if the artist’s interpretation is a touch out of character.
Of course in this strip, reader confusion isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as long as it’s resolved eventually.
@technogeek “Seeing Jen’s face where I expect to see the Lady’s is causing an odd cognative dissonance” 100% agreed. I like it.

Or at least set on finding them out! Hah! Huh?
