and really, what choice did they give the Lady? They provoked this fight, and she’s repeatedly tried to cut it short. ๐ (I just noticed my own pun ><)
I don’t think it registers as cruelty in the Lady’s mind. Pain is an illusion, after all; and what was never broken has no need to heal. She’s probably trying very hard not to kill this thing. Perhaps it doesn’t really want to die.
One thing I have to wonder. Does time pass differently in Rwahle? It seems like the Lady has been there for a long time… you’d think Jen would be awake by now.
thank you ablert for pointing the time thing out as well. I noticed that a while back. if you remember the two “fathers” were going to wake jen up. Oh and Tryna yes the Lady is that cruel. also if the creature is native to subrealm then yes they can die. Also I think the Lady just doesn’t want to waste the energy or time killing them. She could have very easly, but they didn’t give her enough motive, and she could be doing better things.
There’s a simple explanation for the time thing. When Rona went back to Catacomb, it was early morning. We didn’t know how much time passed between when she got bitten by the MC and when she “woke up” next to Perse on the “train” to Rwahle. However, in the scene with Father Nader and Zorro, it’s night-time again (or at least, I tried to make it fairly clear from the lighting that it was).
So it would seem it took an entire day for Perse and Rona to get to Rwahle in their astral forms. Therefore, Jen could have woken up that morning, gone through her daily routine, and is now back in bed fast asleep (as it would be currently middle of the night in Senserealm).
That is, assuming time does pass in a similar fashion in Rwahle to over here. I’ll have to leave that to more experienced astral travelers to confirm/refute.
Oh, and regarding the impending waking up of Jen by the two priests (or rather, the one priest and the ex-priest)… Maggie did show up to tell Zorro that the Lady was in the middle of something important, and that it wouldn’t be good if she was “interrupted”.
What Zorro chose/chooses to do with that bit of info will be revealed soon enough…
Ah, thank you Mr. Chen. I had no idea that much time had passed while they were asleep. Seems the change from day to night in senserealm went right over my head. ๐
And yeah, I remember Maggie told Zorro not to wake Jen up. Though I find myself wandering if he’ll be able to stand up to Nader on that issue. Zorro doesn’t strike me as quite the most forceful personality.
‘Tis but a flesh wound …
reminds me of a scene in “Monty Pyton and the Holy Grail” – with the Black Knight, if Iยดm not wrong ^^
Is The Lady truly this cruel? Forcing a child to watch this happen to its parents. Do I expect too much of The Lady?
Uhm, child. Who was going to eat Rona. Remember that =P
Some “people” just don’t know when to stop, do they.
I wonder what “eye-stalk person speech” is for “let’s cal it a draw… Aha! Running away?! Come back cowards and I’ll gum you to death!”
It’s only a flesh wound! The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you!
Monty Python fans…. we’re everywhere
and so are Holy Grail references, it seems. ;D

Oh, I forgot to mention. I’m sure part of what she’s doing is trying to teach the young one a lesson. That’s what she does, after all.
