i think Luke saw something wrong and lady took control of luke with his wishes i dont think he want to be “alive ” in her sense of saying, he wants to be at rest, and with her saying that she would forever off orb-light that would be wrong she alive forever and he dead stuck in a body that’s rotting forever.. i can see why he trying to kill her or should i say allowing the lady to control him.
It might might be more like luke is literly in a “living” hell right now, and the prospect of his wife or rather his wife when he was alive. maybe doing that to others is a little more then he’s willing to put up with. i think this is his way of saying . “OH, hell no I dont think so you stupid B$@#H!!” luke from the way he stepped forward to help carry our freind in the cell. showed HE still had most if not all of his mind intact. I think this is luke going off on the doc without any help or prodding from the lady.
I believe the lady has a bit to do with it, but only so slightly, remembering the willingness by which the other zombies had themselves offed, Luke is in the same boat as they were. He only has the added frustration that his “beloved” and seriously demented wife is responsible for his hellish, rotting existense.
I almost feel sorry for her too. ALMOST. When Luke hit her I nearly cheered. But really, my focus is about 99% on Jen/Lady – I go nuts waiting for what happens next in this comic 😀
The problem with Marjorie Dreyfuss is that her actions are motivated out of fear. A fear she would certainly deny. She wouldn’t say she’s afraid of what she doesn’t understand. No, she would say she wants to learn about it, to learn to control it. But really, she doesn’t even try to understand these things. Not except as they present themselves in her own mental framework. She sees them only as threats that must be contained, and differs from her fellows only in that she seeks to exploit them after stuffing them into the box her outlook demands of them. Small-minded she is; and, one might even say, petty.
That’s not to say that, in her position, I might not do the same thing. But I recognize that the motivation to do so comes from an exploitative attitude that, were it targeted at another living being, would be seen as nothing short of baldest bigotry. The only difference being that those beings we know and understand. But … it’s that very lack of understanding that leads to such an attitude in the first place.
Honestly I don’t see much difference between this experiment and regular old trying medicine on animals, those being living beings we sort of know. It’s science, pure, simple and with a tendency towards unscruplousness when you can get away with it. I’m not neccessairly against either.
Hmmm, what other options for understanding do you suppose she has had and passed up on?
It’s not about “understanding,” “knowledge,” or even “control.” Those are just rationalizations. It’s about “power,” and “domination.” In short, she thinks she’s a god, and she’s entitled to act that way. @Dream, there’s a BIG difference between what Dr. Dreyfus is doing and necessary medical experiments on animals. Dr. Dreyfus is being deliberately cruel. Legit medical tests on animals are done with the purest of motives because there is no other way. As for people who deliberately torture animals, there’s a special place in hell for them.
“i dont think he want to be “alive” in her sense of saying, he wants to be at rest, and with her saying that she would forever off orb-light that would be wrong she alive forever and he dead stuck in a body that’s rotting forever.”
I was recently at a funeral and this comic reminds me of how – esp. after someone has become old, crippled, and/or in constant pain or suffering – passing over can be a real blessing. Being reminded of this can be very comforting, even emotionally healing.
uhl: She’s being deliberately cruel in a lot of ways, but I don’t think she is through her research. She was trying to get her husband back, after all, I don’t think she intended for him to be in pain. As for the rest of the zombies, most of them were completely unintended.
I don’t believe everything about her is about power and domination, eventhough admittably some things are.
Oh, and I don’t think medical experiments on animals are strictly neccessary. It’s a matter of priorities. Of course, it’s probably easier to think of them as neccessary.

I don’t get it… Are you trying to say that this BoF2 title music would be very appropriate for this scene?
Something like that.

I still want to believe that at least something about the resurrection project went right, but pretty much nothing supports that notion at this point.
darkmyste’s explanation makes the most sense to me.
That look on Marge’s face in the fourth panel is absolutely perfect. I actually almost feel sorry for her.
I almost feel sorry for her too. ALMOST. When Luke hit her I nearly cheered. But really, my focus is about 99% on Jen/Lady – I go nuts waiting for what happens next in this comic 😀
I almost feel sorry for her, but 90% of us already called it.
I’ve got to say, though, that is on my top 10 best evil eyes in the last panel.
Nah, that’s not evil eyes – the look is more like “I told you it was a bad idea.”
But hey, the Zombies a few panels back were able to talk, weren’t they? Why’s there no comment from old Luukkke now?
Am I the only one that doesn’t hate her?
Hate is such a strong word. 😉
