The “van” in panel three looks a lot like a re-purposed, second-hand armored car. The kind that security firms use to transport lots of money. It must be great for protection, but lousy for fuel mileage. (And most of those burn diesel, right?) Makes me wonder why MC would have such a vehicle.
If I haven’t mentioned it before: The artwork in Twilight Lady is definitely above par, as far as web comics go. I think there’s something rather special about using a 3D modeling program to make the characters and props, then using some technique to give it a slight cell-shading effect. Despite the fact that this method is very smart, I’ve not seen it used very often in web comics.
But then, I seem to recall reading that Blake draws some elements. Perhaps the van is drawn instead of rendered?
Trivia: The name “Blake” means black or dark, and it originated as a nickname for someone of either very pale or dark complexion. It seems rather fitting for this comic… or visa versa.
@xpacetrue. The “van” may well be a rental chosen for the needs of this specific mission, or MC Vlad may use it on a day to day basis for his bar’s business needs. (Wine/ liquor delivery, cash handling, etc.) You don’t get to be several centuries old without learning how to use “legitimate” vessels for your more “shady” dealings.
The thing I find interesting is that, if the connection between Nemesis and the Lady _is_ more than coincidental, a bunch of people are on the wrong side of their own declared battle. Which is not uncommon when humans try to guess what higher powers would want them to do.
Question: Aside from her sword, what is this “angel” in these portraits holding in her OTHER hand? I’ve zoomed in on this framed woodcut on this page, on the previous page, and on the painting that Paradosa pointed out. But I can’t quit make it out. From what I can tell, it seems to resemble either a torch, a scepter, or a club. But I can’t be sure.
The exterior picture of the van does clarify size/context; thanks.
Websearch for “Nemesis” finds more information about the cult thereof, but I haven’t found a clearer picture. But, just as a reminder and for newcomers: We have seen pictures very similar to Nemesis earlier — the cover art for this story arc, and page 21a.
There’s never anything more dangerous and stupid than the fanatical self-righteous.

not an angel? I love it when my theories get slammed! so, The Lady seems to be a Greek Goddess?
and the Nemsiki suddenly fall into place:)
and my van theory: Vampyres need some safe day-time transport.
well, let me not get ahead of myself. I meant the *name* ‘Nemsiki’ falls into place. i.e. derived from ‘Nemesis’

Here Lady refers to some Greek mythological creatures

Hey, I found a very clear picture of the one you have been referencing, do you want me to post a link?
You don’t really need my permission for that. 🙂
Just wanted to make sure it didn’t spoil anything. It shows that what Nemesis is holding in her other hand is an hour-glass. Here is the link
