i think the picture is are lady since she good with a sword…
i think i understand why the angle has a sword though there fine line between vengeance and revenge, but the sword could mean the power to fight injustice
i think the lady was the angel of vengeance at one time.
darkmyste: Agreed. And while she has obviously broken with that past — has tried as hard as she can to free herself from blind devotion to the Law — well. Still she finds herself drawn to bring retribution down on those who have sown the seeds of death. Perhaps this is where her death touch came from to begin with.
A Purpose like hers isn’t just some command you can ignore. It goes down to the core of your being. In fact, in many ways it *is* the core of your being. Heh…
Hayley: Well, she’s not an angel anymore. Consider how much that pisses off Eleanor. I think perhaps she reinterpreted her mission to suit her wish for freedom and dislike of the Law. She always did kill those who called death to themselves. Now she does so in a broader fashion than they meant.
Was that merely foreshadowing on the part of Chen, or did that painting have an additional meaning? I had thought of Rona as returning to the “lobby” of her mind just prior to returning to her body from the Astral realm. If so, perhaps it was a bit of premonition or subconscious recognition on Rona’s part just prior to being ‘murdered’?
Question: Aside from her sword, what is this “angel” in these portraits holding in her OTHER hand? I’ve zoomed in on this framed woodcut on this page, on the next page, and on the painting that Paradosa pointed out. But I can’t quit make it out. From what I can tell, it seems to resemble either a torch, a scepter, or a club. But I can’t be sure.
Also, it does make sense if she was the Angel of either Vengeance or Death. I think it would help explain why she went rogue, too.
pastor: um, idk, it’s kinda been the pink elephant in the room i’ve been ignoring my entire life…gimme a second to think about it 😛
“There is no concept I find drearier.” I get it now.
A Purpose can indeed be a horrible shackle. Heh.
Eleanor? do we get her background here?
It *is* possible to wield a sword defensively… I see the point but I quibble with the phrasing.
XCal: Hmmm.
I think i know who Lady might be (or was) and who is Eleanor. Can’t wait for next update to find out if I’m correct.

Paradosa: Hm hm. Dunno if I’m thinking what I think you’re thinking, but that is an interesting observation.

If I were an angel, I’d roll with a sword. Hell yeah.
i would say she’s more an angel of death. She didn’t just kill murderers but also those who wanted to move on to the next realm

Nice catch! I never would have spotted that.
