And I Searched Behind Your Eyes, Pg 11
The song Jen is singing is “Once I Was”, by the late, great Tim Buckley (father of the also late, great Jeff Buckley).
Incidentally, the first time I ever heard this song, I was listening to a rare bootleg of a cover version done by Jeff (who never really knew his father. There’s a touching story behind this performance, which you can read about at wiki). I used to be able to find Jeff’s version on Youtube, but I looked today and couldn’t find it.
If you want to hear what the song actually sounds like sung by a female voice, here’s a pretty good version.
What a great way to add depth to the story. Risky, because there isnt alot of action. But the song fits in with and contributes to the mood of the story. I can see many of those the Lady searching for feeling forgotten the way the song describes. It’s not just sad, it’s almost eerie. A great song for the Catacomb.
I had never heard of Tim of Jeff Buckley, thanks for introducing them!
Not the sort of thing I would go to Catacomb to hear — it’s not dark, just sad. It’s probably not something I would want to hear if my girlfriend had just died in a car accident, either. But I don’t know, maybe this sort of thing helps the grieving process. Ehehehe.
As far as the people the Lady is after… loneliness is only one reason to despair.
but death just seems to make them more lonely like the car crash woman
Oh my… I finished the last one and went looking for Tim Buckley. I changed to this one just in time, as I read every panel with every verse of the song. It was… magic 🙂
Tim Buckley also wrote ‘Song for the Siren’, do try to find HIS rendition of it, it is IMO, much better than any of the covers.
