Please participate! A question for all Twilight Lady readers…
How many of you are out there?
You can’t know for sure, and neither can I… but you can help me arrive at the most accurate answer possible.
If you’re a regular reader, please respond to the poll below. Doesn’t matter how you respond… the point is to respond. And by regular reader, I just mean anyone who’s read at least 10 pages of this comic (or intend to eventually read at least 10 pages) and have visited this site at least once previously.
For the record, this isn’t information intended for advertisers or any of that crap. I would just like to know, for the time and effort I’m putting in every single day, how many folks actually give a damn. That’s all. Really!
If Twilight Lady has given you any pleasure at all, please do this for me. I’ve never demanded anything in return for making this comic available on the web for free. (I’ve asked and begged, but never demanded. ;))
But I’m demanding that you do this now. And do it only once, please.
Thanks in advance!
Do you seek oblivion?

can’t find no poll
Fixed. Sorry about that!
I don’t _seek_ oblivion. I don’t think I’m terrified of the idea either. I’ve been close enough to that edge in the past to know that I won’t do anything irreversible unless I’m sure it’s the better answer. And I do assume it’s a termination, not a transition.
(BTW, the poll isn’t particularly visible unless people read the comments as well as the graphics. If you really want to count regular readers, you should make this much more visible. And/or see if your webserver can be configured to count unique addresses that requests come from.)
Ok Blake, let’s be serious here.
Though the new art has some great quality to it, TL went from stellar to downright laughable – it now reads like a pale remake of current Hollywood teenage vampire flicks, or your usual teenage (once more) zombie webcomics.
Something has to be done, and your own great art reintroduced one way or another.
Looking forward to THE Lady’s rebirth !
Well. All I can say to that is…
What happens starting around page 43 of “The Indwellers” would never take place in a “Hollywood teenage vampire” flick.
Not in a million years.
I miss the old art. I like strips with unique art. The present style looks more like a regular comic book, though the story remains a solid TL type of story. I first started to read this strip over a year ago and devoured the back file.
I’ve certainly not ruled out coming back to do the art for a future TL story, or stories.
But you have to understand that making comics in that vein was always an extremely time-consuming process, and if I were to do it again it would most likely be in the form of a graphic novel available for sale only (in print and/or digital format, separate from the regular ongoing webcomic).
Whether such an endeavour gets off the ground would of course depend on the level of demand.
I seek not oblivion for it seeks me. I was old when the dinosaurs crawled out of the swamps. They ruled the earth for 65 million years because I kept kicking them back into the swamps until they grew strong enough to kick me in and keep me there. A shame they grew weak. One measly rock falling to the ground and away they went. It took me a long time to find my new toys….HUMANS. Muwahahaha.
For everything there is a season… a time to be born, and a time to die.
I tend to think each phase of our existence has its purpose, its unique lessons and experiences. It’s more a question of whether we’re able to call them to us.
I will cling to this form for as long as I can.
I’m here for over a year:) maybe closer to 2? I’m unhappy to see taht more people are agreeing with my initial posts regarding the artwork:( But I will be back for as long as you keep this awesome story!
regarding your comment about you doing a paid-for comic if there is a demand…I DEMAND 🙂 as long as you keep it free here!
Sorry – don’t agree with any of the critics here. Sure, the original artwork was good and unique, but so is this. It however is all about the story and have been reading this since the 1st 2 pages were up way back when. I have enjoyed pretty much every page, every story arc – the only gripe possibly is how the lady has been inside a real body for a bit too long now, without seeming to be too bothered about it. I would have thought she would be …
So – do I seek oblivion ? well, if it means continuing reading this comic, then “hell yeah!” … keep up the good work.
I know I couldn’t do what you ar doing.
Frankly I love the new artist and I think the artwork is getting better and better. So I like art for The Lady both ways. You both have my sympathy for the hours eaten up by graphic design of any kind.
And as for story arcs, I prefer the psychological thriller to the let’s-dismember-the-latest-monster stuff–the suspense of this tale is killing me–if you can combine both types of tale, that’s fine with me. Both kinds of art have their merits.
Am I alone in shipping The Lady and Franc the Accused Body Snatcher?
And am I alone in getting a bit tense, waiting for someone or something to change shape very quickly and very radically? Where is our hostess BTW who knows something about Jen’s origin? I’ve been reading more avidly lately, rather than less. This kind of story arc is my thing, more than unrelenting general mayhem. The low key tension of the Alley is what drew me to TL in the first place. YES I LOVE YOUR DIALOGUE.
As for oblivion–I’ll be ready for it when it is ready for me. Too many people in senserealm needing aid at this particular moment.
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. And for participating in the poll. Hope no one actually took the question that seriously… was meant as strictly tongue-in-cheek. 🙂
Again, the whole purpose of the exercise was simply to count how many regular readers this comic has. As of this writing, at least I know there are 356 folks out there who care enough to click on a button and help me out this once (once!) in return for what they’re getting week in, week out.
The poll will run till end of this month, so those who haven’t chimed in… you have two more weeks!
By far no for although what the lady offers tempts after hearing it through the comic…. By far the harder and more interesting choice is to keep to the mortal form and coil along with the cruel mother. There are advantages to the physical form as much as there are disadvantages.
That and I am a nerd, that is the only way I could’ve answered. -grins-
I have eagerly read every TL strip. I liked the old style better, to me the newer art is more “comic-booky”, but the story is great. I know that there is no way I could do any of it though, so thank you so much!
I would like to respond to the poll, but it looks to be closed. I just found Twilight Lady a few days ago. Spent a lot of time reading it from the beginning and am now caught up.
As for the change in art and atmosphere of the comic, I am all for the evolution of creativity. Change is good. Only those that reside entirely in the Senserealm seek permanence. Those that wander the subrealms welcome an ever changing reality. 🙂
Very much looking forward to both the future and unrevealed past of the Nameless Lady in the Hood.
Thanks, Michael. I’ll put the “official” count at 408. 🙂
So here’s a big “thank you” to all 408 readers who participated.
