A good scene, but I feel that the speech bubbles from the telepathy are a little confusing, as it makes it look like the person Ariel is communicating with is present at her location. Usually when characters have are hearing voices of people who are not physically there such as through a communicator device of some sort, the speech bubbles don’t have indicating arrows or points.
Thanks. You have a good point, and I was a bit torn on this. The intention was to show that to the person receiving the communication (Ariel in this case), it feels as if the communicator (Miss Silva) is actually in the room (voice coming from the direction of her “mouth”, etc.).
If my use of regular speech bubbles threw you off for a moment, perhaps it did have the effect intended, ie. you may have thought for an instant that Miss Silva was physically present, then realized she wasn’t?
In any case, I am aware of the lettering convention you speak of, and did consider whether to use it, but in the end decided (rightly or wrongly) not to.
Gonna have to go with J.K on this one, the first sentence i the second bubble set the mode and explained the source clearly for me. Also nice to have a name for the reptiloid appearing species so soon.
